A United Front: Big Tech’s New Coalition Tackles the Growing Threat of AI Security

Launched in July 2024 under the umbrella of the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), CoSAI is poised to become a critical force in safeguarding the future of AI. CoSAI’s mission is three-fold:

  1. Developing Best Practices for AI Security: CoSAI will serve as a platform to share knowledge, best practices, and learnings related to AI security, fostering a collective approach to mitigating threats. This includes establishing benchmarks and standards for developing and deploying secure AI systems.
  2. Addressing Challenges in AI: The coalition will actively address the unique challenges associated with securing AI, including data poisoning, model poisoning, adversarial attacks, and AI-powered surveillance.
  3. Securing AI Applications: CoSAI aims to develop frameworks and tools to ensure the secure operation of AI applications across various sectors. This includes safeguarding AI-driven systems from unauthorized access, manipulation, or misuse.

Why is This Coalition so Important?
