Agatha All Along: A Mysterious Teen and the Witches’ Road

The enigmatic allure of Agatha Harkness, WandaVision’s breakout character, continues to captivate fans as she gears up for her own spinoff series, "Agatha All Along." With Kathryn Hahn returning to embody the quirky and powerful witch, fans are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of her next chapter, one that promises a dark and mysterious adventure. But what fuels Agatha’s quest? The answer lies with a mysterious figure shrouded in intrigue: "Teen," played by Joe Locke.

While Agatha’s motivations remain shrouded in secrecy, "Agatha All Along" presents a tantalizing glimpse into her journey as she assembles a coven and embarks on the Witches’ Road, a path that promises to restore her lost magic. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer aptly describes Locke’s character as a "mysterious goth teen" who serves as the catalyst for Agatha’s journey. This enigmatic youth, who carries an air of intrigue and a fascination with the occult, seemingly plays a pivotal role in motivating Agatha to embark on this path, potentially leading to both challenges and unexpected discoveries.

Adding to the mystery surrounding "Teen," Marvel fans have theorized that he might be none other than Wiccan, also known as Billy Kaplan, a Young Avenger with a unique connection to Wanda Maximoff. In the comics, Billy is the reincarnation of one of Wanda’s twin sons, Tommy and Billy, who were initially created from pieces of Mephisto’s soul. Their existence was tragically erased, only for them to be reborn as separate individuals possessing powerful magic abilities, unaware of their past connection to Wanda.

While "Teen" may or may not be Billy Kaplan in the series, the similarities in their characteristics and the potential for connection to Wanda’s past are intriguing. Locke himself describes "Teen" as a "fanboy" who idolizes witchcraft and witches, making him an eager follower of Agatha’s path.

"He’s a familiar; he’s like the assistant to the coven," Locke reveals in an interview with Empire Magazine. "Teen is a big fan of witchcraft and witches, so for him to be taken under Agatha Harkness’ wing and form a coven and go down the Witches’ Road is his dream. He’s fanboy-esque, and in his element. Which is very fun—because I was [too]!"

This fascination with the supernatural and the allure of the occult create an intriguing dynamic in the series. "Teen’s" unwavering devotion to the path of witchcraft, combined with Agatha’s dark ambitions, promises a captivating clash of personalities and motivations.

Interestingly, Locke further illustrates the series’ unexpected direction by comparing it to another iconic adventure: "The Goonies."

"Jac sent [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige a picture of the Witches’ Road set and he replied, ‘Oh my God, we’re making ‘The Goonies.’ That’s what I’d been saying—that we were making this adventure series," Locke shares.

Witches, magic, and "The Goonies" seem like an unusual combination, yet it speaks to the series’ ability to blend elements of fantasy, adventure, and a dose of unexpected humor. This unique blend promises to deliver a refreshingly unpredictable experience for fans, something that stands out in today’s heavily-serialized and predictable superhero landscape.

While "Agatha All Along" is shrouded in mystery and speculation, the inclusion of "Teen" as Agatha’s sidekick introduces a significant element of intrigue. He serves as a fascinating counterpoint to Agatha’s cunning and power, and his role in the coven, combined with his potential connection to Wanda’s past, promises to unravel a complex web of mysteries and uncover secrets that will challenge the very nature of reality.

With the series set to premiere on Disney+ on September 18th, fans will soon discover the truths hidden beneath the surface of "Agatha All Along." The captivating journey of a powerful witch and her unlikely companion, weaving through the hidden paths of magic and secrets, promises to deliver a captivating blend of fantasy, adventure, and potentially, even a touch of musical magic.
